BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - The second annual Red Stick Revelry will take place in Town Square on New Year's Eve.
The countdown to the New Year will begin at 11 a.m. on the 31st with the raising of the Red Stick. Hands-on activities from the Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge will be available for kids to enjoy.
At 6:30 p.m., David St. Romain will perform at the Crest Stage in Galvez Plaza. Phat Hat will perform beginning at 9:00 p.m. to help ring in the New Year.
Finally, the Red Stick will drop when midnight strikes and 2015 begins. A fireworks show over the Mississippi River will serve as the finale for the night.
In 2013, an estimated 15,000 people were in the Galvez Plaza area downtown for the inaugural Red Stick Ready celebration leading up to the midnight drop of a 9-foot LED-lighted Red Stick from 30 feet above the Beacon in Town Square.
The event will be broadcasted on WAFB, WAFB.com, and on our WAFB Mobile App for tablets and smartphones. The event will be hosted by our own Steve Caparotta and Greg Meriwether.
