BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - A flood watch has been issued for southeast Louisiana and parts of southern Mississippi over the weekend.
Meteorologists said there is the potential for heavy rainfall.
The flood watch is in effect through Sunday at 6 p.m.
WAFB meteorologist Steve Caparotta said model rain projections are all over the board, but he thinks 2" to 4" is a pretty good bet for areas near and north of Baton Rouge (totals may be a little lower to the south).
However, localized heavier amounts are a real possibility this weekend.
According to the National Weather Service, two-day totals could average between 3" and 5", with isolated higher amounts possibly between 6" and 10".
Officials are also keeping an eye on rivers across the area for possible minor flooding concerns.
