This week's "Your Turn" segment goes to Rodney Lee. Lee took to the WAFB 9 News Facebook page to express his displeasure about the new mining ordinance passed by the Livingston Parish Council.
The new rule was approved in response to a plan to locate a sand and gravel mining operation near a neighborhood in Watson. Lee doesn't think the ordinance protects homeowners.
In his words: Instead of making sure that any mining operation is far away so people can raise their families in peace and safety, they voted for an ordinance to allow mining companies just 41 yards away from any subdivision in the parish. I certainly hope the people of the parish speak on Election Day. It is sad indeed that the people of a parish mean so little to those who were elected to look out for them.
