BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Police have issued an arrest warrant in connection with a deadly shooting that happened in a grocery store parking lot two days before Christmas.
The Baton Rouge Police Department issued a warrant Friday for Aljerard Warner, 22, of Brusly.
He is accused of shooting and killing Derrell Haynes, 19, of Baton Rouge. Police reported Haynes was shot in the chest in the parking lot of the Piggly Wiggly on Choctaw Drive.
According to police, witnesses said the shooter drove off in a red 2013 Chevrolet Impala.
Police believe Warner and Haynes were in the middle of a drug deal before to the shooting.
