Baton Rouge man arrested for DWI, resisting an officer

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Authorities arrested Lawrence Jackson Jr., 34, late Christmas Eve after he allegedly hit a parked car with his car.

Authorities say that, according to skid marks in grass near the area, Jackson lost control of his vehicle, struck a metal pole, and picked up with the debris from the area. According to police, this was effectively tampering with evidence of the investigation.

Officers noted that they saw two open alcoholic beverage containers and the odor of alcohol on Jackson's breath. Officers found that Jackson was not licensed to drive a vehicle. Officers then took Jackson to the 4th district police station to complete paperwork.

At the police station, while officers attempted to put Jackson in the back of the police vehicle, Jackson spun around, removing restraints and trapping the officer in his own cuffs. Jackson then forced the officer against a desk where he said that he was going to sue the officers and cost them their jobs.

Jackson was then restrained and taken to the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison where he was booked on charges of careless operation of a motor vehicle, drinking in a motor vehicle, obstruction of justice, driving without a license, resisting an officer with force or violence, and public intimidation.
