BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - The severe weather that passed through Baton Rouge produced many lightning strikes and one of those is being blamed for possibly causing a house fire Tuesday.
A home on Arbor Oaks Avenue caught fire around noon.
Chief Wesley Tucker with the Pride Fire Department reported all indications show the fire was started by a lightning strike. He said a neighbor saw it happen and called 911.
According to Tucker, the family was not home at the time. He added if the neighbor has not seen the strike and reported it, the fire could have possibly destroyed the home.
"We were able to get there quick enough to save the house," Tucker said. "It was a good job and a good effort by our firefighters."
No injuries were reported.
