Death of 4-year-old is second tragedy for family in less than a month

Police find body during search for missing 4-year-old

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - The tragedy a Baton Rouge family is dealing with after police found the body of 4-year-old Jassiah Clark in a 20-foot-deep pipe filled with water, is just another blow to what they have dealt with in the past month.

On November 23, 2014, Jassiah's uncle and his mother's boyfriend killed each other during an argument.

Lester Reed, 32, and Tevin Crump, 19, got into an argument and it escalated with Reed stabbing Crump in the torso multiple times in the chest. Crump then shot Reed in the chest.

Family members say Crump stood over Reed to shoot again, but the gun jammed and moments later he fell to the ground. Crump died at the scene and Reed died at the hospital.

Family members say Jassiah and his 10-year-old brother saw the two men kill each other, and Jassiah often talked about it and upset him that his uncle was gone.

When Jassiah's mother, Brittni Clark, learned about the deadly fight between Crump and Reed, she was in the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison where she was charged with exploitation of the infirmed. Police say she and another woman stole thousands of dollars from an elderly man's bank account. Reports say she was working as the man's caretaker. She was released on a $42,500 bond three days after Crump and Reed died.
