Baton Rouge man arrested after shots fired

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - On early Sunday morning, Baton Rouge Police Officers responded to a shots fired call at an apartment building on Highland Road.

When officers arrived at the scene, they interviewed a witness who heard the gunshots, looked out of his window and stated that he saw people run into an upstairs apartment after the shots were fired.

Officers visited the apartment where the suspect was seen, and found Edward Hilton, 23, hiding in his room.

Officers asked the suspect about the incident, with Hilton saying that he did not know anything about a gun being shot. Officers then found six spent shell casings that were still warm. Hilton stated that he did not own a gun, and then officers located the weapon outside of his bedroom window on top of an air conditioning unit. Hilton would later admit to firing the weapon.

Hilton was transported to the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison, charged with Illegal Discharge of a Weapon, Terrorizing, and Resisting an Officer. Hilton was booked accordingly.
