WALKER, LA (WAFB) - The Walker Police department announced that they have arrested a suspect in at least two armed robbery attempts.
Joshua Brooks, 24, was placed under arrest for the attempted robbery of a Walker Burger King and a Denham Springs Taco Bell.
According to Walker investigators, during the early morning of November 29th, Brooks allegedly attempted to rob the Burger King by driving up to the drive thru window, pointing a gun at the worker, and demanding money from the register. The clerk slammed the window and notified the manager. At this point, the suspect had driven away from the restaurant.
The Walker PD says that the clerk recognized the man and was able to identify the suspect as an ex-employee. During the course of the original investigation, Walker Police were notified that a similar robbery attempt took place approximately 30 minutes earlier.
Detectives were able to apprehend Brooks at his apartment. Brooks was charged with the attempted armed robberies of the restaurants.
Captain Sharp suggests that Brooks could face additional charges. "We are aware of other, similar incidents that have been reported in other jurisdictions," says Sharp "we are in the process of contacting agencies in those jurisdictions to make them aware of our arrest of Mr. Brooks, in case they have experienced a similar offense."
Brooks remains in jail on a $250,000 bond for the attempted robberies.
