BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - A Baton Rouge woman has been charged with attempted murder after her husband was stabbed in the chest with a kitchen knife.
It happened Sunday in the 7000 block of Villere Drive.
When deputies arrived, they found a man with a stab wound to the chest. He was taken to the hospital for treatment.
Reports from the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office say 39-year-old Stephanie Hayes Robertson was taken to the Violent Crimes Unit where she told deputies she and her husband were arguing. She told deputies she grabbed the kitchen knife and told her husband she was going to stab him.
She claims she and her husband began to struggle for the knife and her husband was stabbed in the upper chest. She told deputies she rendered aid and called 911.
The victim told deputies his wife grabbed the knife, stabbed him in the chest and he fell to the floor.
Robertson was arrested and charged with attempted second degree murder, and domestic abuse/battery. She is being held in the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison in lieu of a $60,000 bond.
