DENHAM SPRINGS, LA (WAFB) -

Police said a standoff with a man accused of firing a gun over the heads of a group of teens ended with no injuries Thursday.

The Denham Springs Police Department reported Jamel Grant, 19, of Baton Rouge, will be booked on a charge of attempted first-degree murder.

Investigators said the two-hour standoff happened at the corner of Foster Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Drive in Denham Springs. It started before 6 p.m.

According to police, the incident originated from an argument between the group and Grant's cousin. Authorities said they were arguing in the street when Grant walked out with a shotgun and fired it into the air.

They said he then went back inside and holed up in the house until negotiators convinced him to surrender peacefully.
