Neighbors of man facing 500 child porn counts say the arrest is alarming

DENHAM SPRINGS, LA (WAFB) -

Neighbors of the man investigators arrested on 500 counts of pornography said they are on edge the day after the information was made public.

The Office of the Louisiana Attorney General reported Brian Schaller, 42, of Denham Springs, is accused of having hundreds of child porn pictures on his computer. He was arrested on Dec. 10, 2014 and booked into the Livingston Parish Detention Center.

Jeff Coke, who lives near Scahller's home on Linder Road, said hearing the news makes him uncomfortable for his family.

"To get 500 counts of pornography, that's ridiculous," Coke said. "I have a daughter of my own and I am at work usually, so to not know what's going on with your neighbors like that is uncool."

Schallers son was contacted while he was out in front of the home Thursday, but he did not want to comment on his father's arrest.

Rodney Scoggians, who also lives in the neighborhood, couldn't believe the news.

"What I've see on TV is that's just the beginning and can lead to other things," Scoggians said.

Schaller remained behind bars on a $51 million bond at the time of this report.
