Parade rolls to honor Livonia High for winning Class 3A Championship

LIVONIA, LA (WAFB) - A celebration was held in Pointe Coupee Parish on Thursday in honor of a championship football team.

A parade for the Livonia Wildcats, fresh off their impressive win over the Amite Warriors in the Class 3A Championship, rolled through the streets for fans to cheer on the players one more time.

Livonia finished the season undefeated after beating the Warriors 43-14 Saturday afternoon.

First year head coach Guy Mistretta said the success came because his team was in familiar territory.

"I think, certainly being there last year, having that experience, It was a whole lot easier for these guys, it wasn't as new," Mistretta said. "You know, the whole week leading up to it, we had one little community pep rally, but besides that, they kept it pretty much under control."

Mistretta took over at Livonia this year for David Brewerton, who left for Zachary High School. Brewerton took the Wildcats to the dome last season, where they lost in double overtime.

Congratulations to them for winning it all this season.
