Brett Beard has accepted an offer to become Live Oak High School's head football coach. Live Oak Principal Tracy McRae made the announcement on Wednesday.
Beard has been the head football coach at Woodlawn for the past two years, leading the Panthers to the LHSAA Class 5A playoffs both seasons.
He will join Live Oak in January.
Beard played his collegiate football at Vanderbilt from 1999-2002. With one year of eligibility left, the defensive lineman completed his career at Southeastern University in 2003 under head coach Hal Mumme.Copyright 2014 WAFB. All rights reserved.
