Hundreds attend 30th annual Christmas Festival in Slaughter

SLAUGHTER, LA (WAFB) -

On Saturday, the Town of Slaughter held its 30th annual Christmas Festival. Hundreds of people were treated to arts and crafts, games, food, and entertainment by the Angola Prison Band.

The Slaughter Fire Department sponsored a parade featuring Grand Marshal, WAFB News Anchor, Cheryl Mercedes; the East Feliciana High School Band; and local churches.

Residents of Grace Nursing Home were given a front row seat to the festivities.

The event wrapped with a colorful fireworks display.

    A man accused of an attempted armed robbery Thursday night was shot in the process and died early Friday morning, according to investigators. The Baton Rouge Police Department reported Kylin Spencer, 19, died at the hospital from gunshot wounds.
