BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - A Baton Rouge man was placed under arrest after being accused of attacking a woman with closed fists in the 5th floor Day Room area of Baton Rouge General Hospital.
The affidavit of probable cause says 58-year-old Matthew Dyles began verbally abusing a woman working at the hospital. The police report says Dyles threw a cup of applesauce on the woman. She began to walk out of the room when she says Dyles attacked her with a closed fist, beating her in the chest area.
Reports say Dyles stopped when she began screaming for help.
A Code White (emergency call) was initiated by hospital staff and an officer with the Baton Rouge Police Department responded.
When the officer arrived, he saw the victim walking rapidly towards the elevator and he noted she was crying and holding her chest.
Dyles was secured in a room and police say he was "very belligerent towards him and other officer staff."
Dyles was arrested and charged with battery on emergency room staff. His bond has not been set at this time.
