GONZALES, LA (WAFB) - It is now up to Gov. Bobby Jindal to fill one of the two vacant seats on the Gonzales City Council.
Former Councilman Gary Lacombe resigned nearly a month ago. The move was made after he was targeted for a recall.
The council had 20 days to fill his seat. The deadline passed Monday night.
Jindal will have to name a replacement until a special election is held.
The second empty seat belonged to Timothy Vessel. Voters recalled him earlier this month.
The council will hold a special meeting Wednesday to talk about who will take Vessel's place.
