Pregnant woman, dog escape house fire unharmed

PLAQUEMINE, LA (WAFB) -

Just after 6:30 a.m. Tuesday, a fire broke out inside a house on Evangeline Street in Plaquemine.

When the firefighters arrived, the woman and her dog were standing outside of their house. The woman's husband had left for work before the fire started.

Officials say the young couple is expecting their first child.

The fire is not considered suspicious and was mostly contained in the attic of the home. Fire officials say it took about 15 minutes to get the fire under control.
