BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

LSU Health Baton Rouge will open its second urgent care clinic Monday. The new clinic is located in Mid City at 1401 North Foster Drive in Baton Rouge.

"Alot of times patients go to the emergency room when it's really not needed," said Stephanie Manson, vice president of operations with Our Lady of the Lake hospital.  "The type of injury or illness could be treated in a more cost efficient and time efficent manner and that's what's really great about an urgent care."

The center will be open seven days a week, Monday through Friday from 3  p.m. to 11  p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m . Patients will not need an appointment, similar to the existing LSU Health Baton Rouge urgent care clinic in North Baton Rouge.
