BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Men and women from across Louisiana lay wreaths in honor of veterans who died while serving the country.
The wreaths were placed on the graves of fallen veterans at the Baton Rouge National Cemetery.
Donations were taken at the event that took place Saturday morning with the goal of honoring every fallen veteran with a wreath of their own.
A similar event held in Zachary saw the Patriot Guard, a national group of patriotic motorcycle riders, attending the wreath laying.
Some families note that this was the first time attending an event of this nature, and that they were moved by the tribute.
Organizers say that they hope today helps people honor the fallen and helps to teach others why events like these are important.
Wreaths Across America began in 1992, and continue to events to honor veterans around this time of year.
