SCOTT, LA (WAFB) - A man leaving Cowboy's Nightclub in Scott, LA early Friday morning was arrested and charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol and vehicular homicide after hitting a pedestrian in the parking lot.
The accident happened around 2:30 a.m. Scott Police Officers were working off-duty security the nightclub. After the bar closed, officers were clearing the parking lot of the patrons exiting the bar when they heard a man yelling for help.
The man, identified as Chase Franks, told police he was leaving the parking lot and the woman, 22-year-old Kylie Pannell of Crowley, LA, ran in front of his vehicle and did not see her until the vehicle hit her.
Franks told police he backed up and went to check on the woman and yelled for help.
EMS was called and they took Pannell to the hospital where she died.
Franks was taken to the Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office to submit a chemical breath test. The results showed he had a blood alcohol concentration of 0.082g%. The legal limit in Louisiana is 0.08g%.
