AMITE, LA (WAFB) -

An Amite, LA police officer remains suspended without pay following indictments on rape and kidnapping charges.

A Grand Jury handed up the indictment against 25-year-old Grant Carruth last week. He was arrested in September after investigators said he used social media to lure two women into meeting him. The first case happened on August 11, the second on September 20.

Reports say in both cases, the victims reported they were approached by a man who identified himself as a narcotics officer and told them they were being placed under arrest. Both victims were handcuffed and driven to unknown areas of Tangipahoa Parish.

Both victims say they were driven to other areas of Tangipahoa Parish and released after being forced to perform sexual acts.

According to reports, both victims identified Carruth as the person who kidnapped and assaulted them.

Amite's Police Chief says he will wait until the legal process plays out before he makes a decision on Carruth's status with the police department.
