This week's "Your Turn" segment goes to Paul Fletcher. He's one of many people on our Facebook page who reacted to the 9 New Investigators report on the new alternative school in Rapides Parish. The school offers a strict discipline environment for students who have been kicked out of their regular schools.
Fletcher thinks that's a good thing. In his words: I have 28 years in education, 16 of those years as an administrator of an alternative school. Student and teacher safety in a highly structured and controlled learning environment gives these teens a second chance at a public education and the opportunity to possibly earn their way back to their home based school. Proper school leadership, good teachers and clear expectations are the keys, as they are anywhere in education.
