Ascension Parish Sheriffs Office looking for burglary suspect

ASCENSION PARISH, LA (WAFB) - The Ascension Parish Sheriffs Office is asking the public for help in identifying a suspect who attempted to break into a Prairieville home on November 30th.

While the homeowner was present, the suspect was captured on surveillance standing outside of the home, then cutting a window screen attempting to gain entry into the home by breaking the window.

Investigators believe that the same suspect was involved in a vehicle burglary at a convenience store on Perkins Road in Prarieville on December 1st. A wallet with an ATM card was stolen out of the vehicle.

A security camera caught the suspect taking the card and attempting to withdraw funds from an ATM, but the suspect was unable to do so.

The suspect is described as a 20-30 year old male with a medium build, facial hair, and long dark colored hair worn in a ponytail. He may be driving a light colored 2000-2004 Ford Mustang.

Anyone with information on these two cases is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 225-344-7867, the APSO at 225-621-4636 or by texting 847411 to the APSO's anonymous tip line from any cellular device.
