BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Giving Tuesday is next on the list of special occasions on the days after Thanksgiving.
After Gray Thursday, Black Friday, and Cyber Monday, Giving Tuesday was started in 2012 by the 92nd Street Y in New York City along with The United Nations Foundation as a global day to give back.
About 20,000 non-profit organizations have signed to support the day of charity. This year, Baton Rouge is joining the festivities. The East Baton Rouge council on Aging is taking this occasion to announce that they are now collecting personal care items for needy senior citizens.
Currently, they are looking for things like cleaning supplies, bottled water, and incontinence supplies.
