BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - LSU made a musical announcement Monday.
An LSU music student played a Blue Dog piano in the lobby of the music school to announce that the George Rodrigue Foundation had raised enough money for LSU to make another donation. The Blue Dog piano was a donation by the late Louisiana artist.
"Three years ago, the LSU School of Music approached dad to paint a Blue Dog on a 100-year-old Steinway piano," said Jacques Rodrigue with the George Rodrigue Foundation. "The original plan was to auction off the piano. But instead, we're going to keep the piano for our foundation and our museum and we sold prints of a Blue Dog sitting at a piano. And, with all those funds, we were able to buy 15 pianos for the school."
Hall Piano gave LSU a good deal on the beautiful upright Steinways for the LSU music school practice rooms. And, instead of 15, they have 19 pianos.
