BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

Monday is World AIDS Day and Baton Rouge is one of many cities around the world trying to do better when it comes to the disease.

"It's a day that we remember people who have lost their life to HIV/AIDS and we also bring awareness to others to actually get tested and know their status," said Sharon Decuir with AIDS Advisory Council.

According to AIDS.gov, 35 million people worldwide are living with the disease.

Baton Rouge is ranked second in the US in the number of AIDS cases per capita.
