BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Triumph Kitchen, the culinary training program for at-risk youth, had meals ready to go Thursday for anyone who wanted them.
Chef Chris Wadsworth took to social media to ask for donations and people gave the equivalent of an iron chef challenge, making Thanksgiving out of whatever was donated. It turns out with a professional chef as the teacher and kids willing to experiment, a wonderful meal resulted.
"Several different styles of turkey from roasted, fried, smoked," Wadsworth said. "Couple different kinds of ham - apple, bacon - cornbread dressing, the traditional dressings, rice dressing, all the veggies, so we've got a good quality product for sure."
The Triumph Kitchen is located on Third Street in downtown Baton Rouge, but it took the "to-go" meals to the parking lot of the Family and Youth Service Center on Government Street.
