BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - A Baton Rouge man was arrested last week after he threatened his 87-year-old grandmother with a knife, according to the probable cause affidavit from the Baton Rouge Police Department.
When police arrived, the woman was "extremely distraught," saying her grandson, 44-year-old Dedrick Sumpton had come to the house making threats.
The grandmother also told police that "[Dedrick] always comes to her house when he is either drunk or high on MOJO."
Sumpton was in the kitchen while police were talking to the grandmother. Reports say the officer told Sumpton to step towards him and put his hands behind his back. Then the officer gave loud verbal commands, but Sumpton refused.
The officer had to struggle with Sumpton and forced him into handcuffs.
Sumpton was taken to the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison where he was booked on charges of cruelty to the infirmed and resisting an officer. His bond has been set at $12,500.
