One dead, one injured in early morning shootings

LAFAYETTE, LA (WAFB) - Multiple early morning shootings in Lafayette leave one dead and one injured.

According to the Lafayette Police Department, officers responding to gunshots fired  on the 800 block of Gilman Street found a deceased male victim inside of a pickup truck.

As officers were securing the crime scene, they heard gunshots being fired from the 1100 block of North St. Antoine Street. The victim from that shooting drove his car towards the officers  and was transported to an area hospital. The victim is listed in critical condition.

Investigators are attempting to identify the suspect or suspects to determine if the shootings are connected.
