BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - People traveling through Mid City come next year will see some new changes, as developers plan on building a new project they hope will be done by the end of next year.

Architect Josh Hoffpauir wants to build a 25,000 square foot mixed-use development project called Square 46. The building will have a place for a farmers market, restaurants, office spaces, and a residential area. It will be located at 4646 Government Street near North Foster.

Hoffpauir said he has been waiting on this opportunity since college.

"I actually did my senior thesis on Government Street" said Hoffpauir. "I know what the street is capable of and we are going to build this thing on this big concrete site that you see now."

Hoffpauir said they are planning on securing the property on Friday. They expect to break ground in the Spring.
