Sheriff demotes captain for allegedly interfering with another deputy's traffic stop

ST. FRANCISVILLE, LA (WAFB) -

The West Feliciana Parish Sheriff's Office demoting one of its captains after he allegedly interfered with a traffic stop that another deputy was conducting.

Michael Taylor has been demoted to lieutenant, suspended two weeks without pay, lost the use of his patrol unit and will be assigned to the courthouse security division.

“We hold our officers to very high standards and want to make it clear that we do not tolerate this kind of behavior,” Sheriff Austin Daniel said in a written release.

Officials said the driver was initially pulled over at 1:30 a.m. on October 29 for allegedly going 96 mph in a 65 mph zone. It happened near the intersection of US 61 and LA 10 near St. Francisville.
