NEW ROADS, LA (WAFB) - New Roads Mayor Robert Myer is welcoming an investigation by the State Inspector General's Office.
The 9News Investigators reported Monday that the IG's office had launched an investigation into New Roads' finances. Through sources, the 9News Investigators learned the IG's office was specifically looking into Mayor Myer's spending's on his city issued credit card and at least one other city official.
"I think that it's a good thing that this has moved from the political arena to an arena where it would be reviewed. We've had three good audit reports since I've been here, and I think that what we will find is that will have another good review of what we do," said Mayor Myer.
Mayor Myer said it's nothing more than Louisiana politics at its worst with his opponent in the recent mayoral election campaign Cornell Dukes. Dukes said he wanted to wait to interview after the IG finished its investigation.
Wednesday on 9News at 6 p.m., the 9News Investigators will break down the hundreds of pages of receipts from Mayor Myer's city issued credit card and get the mayor's response on specific charges.
