MARKSVILLE, LA (WAFB) - The Chief of the Tunica-Biloxi Tribe in Marksville, LA was arrested Tuesday and charged with 21 counts of doctor shopping in two parishes.
According to reports from Louisiana State Police, an investigation began in September concerning 36-year-old Joey P. Barbry of Mansura, LA.
Barbry was allegedly obtaining controlled dangerous substance prescriptions fraudulently, from multiple physicians.
After gathering additional information and conducting a thorough investigation, LSP AFO Troopers obtained arrest warrants for Barbry. Arrest warrants were obtained in Rapides Parish and Avoyelles Parish.
According to a news release from LSP, Barbry was booked into the Avoyelles Parish Detention Center and the Rapides Parish Detention Center. He was charged with obtaining CDS by fraud-doctor shopping, seven counts in Rapides Parish and 14 counts in Avoyelles Parish.
