Police have identified a suspect in the shooting death of a high school football coach.

The Baton Rouge Police Department reported Kendric Cloud, 25, of Baker, is wanted in connection with a shooting that left Juan Joseph, 27, of Edgard, dead. Joseph was the quarterbacks coach at West St. John High School in Edgard.

Investigators said he was shot in the parking lot outside a nightclub on Bennington Drive in Baton Rouge early Sunday morning after a brief argument with another man. Joseph was taken to the hospital where he later died.

A statement from the St. John the Baptist Public School District said Joseph wasn't "just an employee of this school system, but an important part of the community."

Anyone with information on Cloud's whereabouts or the shooting is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 344-7867.
