SORRENTO, LA (WAFB) - The former Sorrento Mayor is set to go before a judge Monday to ask for his $1.025,000 bond to be reduced to $100,000.
District Attorney Ricky Babin says that Wilson Longanecker Jr. will go before State Judge Jessie Leblanc at 9 a.m.
Wilson is charged with 40 counts of possession of child pornography and one count of obstruction of justice. Officers found enough evidence to arrest Longanecker on charges of possessing pornography involving juveniles. He added Longanecker is accused of trying to hide the evidence, which led to the obstruction of justice charge.
Longanecker is charged with violating a state law forbidding a person to produce, distribute, possess, or possess with the intent to distribute pornography involving juveniles. If convicted as charged, he faces up to 20 years in prison on each count of child pornography and obstruction of justice; which in this case, could be 800 years.
Longanecker was elected mayor of Sorrento in 2011 and served until 2013.
