ALBANY, LA (WAFB) - Three men suspected of robbing a McDonald's in Louisiana at gunpoint were arrested after a similar crime in Florida.
The Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office said it learned on November 12 that Kelly Stewart, 18, of Slidell, Christopher Smith, 20, of Slidell, and Trevor Smalls, 19, of Mobile, AL, were arrested in connection with a hold-up at a McDonald's in Mossy Head, FL.
The trio is suspected of robbing the McDonald's in Albany at gunpoint on November 12. They remain in the Walton County Jail.
"This is a case of two agencies working for the greater good - detectives following the facts, keeping their eyes and ears open - to solve what could have been a difficult crime to close," said Sheriff Jason Ard. "But, because of what I'd call 'good ole' fashioned police work - three suspects are now behind bars. I'd call that a good day."
Detectives with LPSO went to Florida to question the suspects about the robbery in Albany and they said based on evidence collected during the investigation, they believe the same three suspects are responsible for the armed robbery in Albany.
All three will be charged in Livingston Parish with armed robbery with a firearm.
It is not yet known when they will be sent back to Louisiana to face charges.
