Police search for suspect after victim gets shot during attempted armed robbery

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

Police are looking for the person who shot a man during an attempted armed robbery in the parking lot of a convenience store late Tuesday night.

The Baton Rouge Police Department reported the 58-year-old victim was shot in the thigh. The wound is not considered life-threatening.

Cpl. Don Coppola with BRPD said it happened in the parking lot of the Circle K on Airline Highway near McClelland Drive around 10 p.m.

He added the victim drove himself to the hospital an hour and a half later and that's when the shooting was reported to police.

The investigation is ongoing.
