BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - It doesn't take long for anyone living in Baton Rouge or passing through to recognize traffic is terrible in the area, so a group called Bike Baton Rouge is aiming to change it.
Organizers brain-stormed with cyclists, pedestrians and public health advocates from around the state Monday to create "complete streets."
The hope is to create streets that make moving around the city in any form of transportation less stressful. The project also aims to make streets more accessible for people who are disabled.
"It not only affects the people using it, but the people that are going to be driving on the same roads; the people that are going to be driving in from out of town in Louisiana," said Beaux Jones with Bike Baton Rouge. "So, it's a public health issue. It's a public safety issue. It's a congestion issue. And, it's really just a quality of life issue."
Bike Baton Rouge will present its plan to the Baton Rouge Metro Council for the first time on Wednesday.
