WALKER, LA (WAFB) - Children were outside at North Corbin Elementary in Walker and they got their hands dirty.
“I'm planting collards, cabbage. It's a teaching garden and it helps kids with childhood obesity and teaches them to eat healthier."
The school yard was abuzz with activity shovels and fingers in soil. This American Heart Association Garden Program had young green plants going in the ground to produce real food. Kids were fascinated with the way different foods also looked different as plants. And organizing the plants was exciting too.
