BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Investigators are hoping the evidence collected at a crime scene early Thursday morning leads them to a shooting suspect.
The Baton Rouge Police Department reported officers were called out to Ozark Street around 2:15 a.m. because someone had been shot and when they arrived, found the victim was shot through the right side of his chest.
Detectives said they later learned the shooting actually happened on Alliquipa Street near Erie Street and the victim walked to Ozark. The man reportedly told police he saw a man get out of a vehicle with a gun, so he started running and was shot while running away.
Authorities said the motive for the shooting is unknown. A description of the suspect was not released.
The investigation is ongoing.
