BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Charles Lanphier, 68, of Lafayette has been charged with failing to truthfully account for and pay over taxes by United States Attorney Walt Green.

Lanphier owned and operated Regional Healthcare, a company headquartered in Baton Rouge. From 2008 to 2011, officials say he allegedly withheld more than $2.5 million from his employees' paychecks, but failed to turn that money over to the IRS.

If convicted, he faces significant jail time, fines, and restitution orders.
