Sheriff: Man arrested for battery, kidnapping a pregnant woman and 3-year-old child

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - A Baton Rouge man is being held in the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on a $16,000 bond after deputies say he battered a woman who is nine months pregnant and then kidnapped her and a three year old child on Saturday.

According to the probable cause affidavit from the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office, it started Saturday afternoon near Greenbriar Elementary School.

The report says, Hunter Heard, 28, showed up at the victim's friend's house and began to argue with the victim, who is nine months pregnant. The victim stated that she and Heard lived together for a year, and they currently have a three-year-old child together with another one on the way.

The neighbors heard the yelling and screaming, and tried to stop the fight. According to the victim, Heard began punching and pushing the neighbors as they tried to stop the argument.

The EBRSO report notes that one of the neighbors who was allegedly battered by the accused was 14 years old. After the argument, Heard threw the victim and the three year old into his vehicle and drove off at a high rate of speed.

According to the victim, she was afraid for her life and Heard was driving recklessly and at one point, she was able to get out of the vehicle with her 3-year-old child and run to a business to hide from Heard. She then called 911 for help. Deputies were able to locate and arrest Heard on Airline Highway near Goodwood Boulevard.

Heard has a history of domestic violence charges, according to EBRSO. He has been charged with domestic abuse/battery at least three times, one of those times including an attempted 2nd degree murder charge against the victim from this case.

Heard was arrested, booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison, and charged with domestic abuse with child endangerment, simple kidnapping, three counts of simple battery, cruelty to juveniles, reckless operation, false imprisonment, and disturbing the peace.

He is being held on a $16,000 bond.
