BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

A man was arrested on DWI and other charges after a hit and run crash that sent two people to the hospital Sunday evening.

Louisiana State Police reported Bart Marks, 28, was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on the following charges:

DWI

Negligent vehicular injuring

Hit and run

Driving left of center

His bond was not set.

Authorities reported the crash happened on Gardere Lane south of GSRI Avenue around 8:45 p.m. According to the probable cause report, the trooper responding to the crash found a wrecked Oldsmobile Alero and the driver said a white truck moved into her lane, sideswiped her car and then drove off.

The driver and a passenger were taken to Our Lady of the Lake Hospital with minor to moderate injuries. Their names were not released and their conditions are unknown.

Investigators said they learned the truck believed to have been involved in the crash was stopped at the corner of Ned Avenue and Anne Marie Drive. Troopers reported finding a white Nissan Titan at that location shortly after 9 p.m. They added the truck had damage to the front driver's side.

The report stated Marks admitted to being the owner and driver of the truck. The trooper reported Marks, "appeared to be extremely intoxicated and had a strong odor of alcoholic beverages on his person." The report also indicated EMS treated Marks for cuts near his eye and the trooper drove him to Our Lady of the Lake for further treatment.

Authorities said a blood sample was also taken from Marks at the hospital and sent to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis. They added he was taken to jail once he was released from the hospital.
