BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Secretary of State Tom Schedler says he expects about half of Louisiana's nearly three million registered voters to take part in the election. That's well below the 68 percent for the 2012 presidential election.
Schedler spoke at the Baton Rouge Press Club Monday. The election is Nov. 4.
To help cut down on what can be lengthy lines at the polls, Schedler reminds voters to read up on issues that'll be on the ballot, especially constitutional amendments.
"We need to really just kinda stay focused and recognize a very different race than what we've had in a long long time, maybe ever," Schedler says.
He says about 30,000 people per day have been casting early ballots with the strongest turnout in Baton Rouge and New Orleans.
