BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Police said five people were arrested during a bust Wednesday night involving high grade marijuana and other drugs.
The Baton Rouge Police Department reported the BRAVE team made the bust at a motel on Reulet Avenue in Baton Rouge. Investigators said they seized 12.4 pounds of "purple" marijuana worth thousands of dollars per pound.

Authorities stated they also discovered codeine (7 oz.) and Alprazolam. Officials reported a .40 caliber Taurus handgun and more than $18,000 in cash was also discovered.
According to the probable cause report, an officer patrolling the parking lot of the motel and saw a man walk out of a room, leave the door open and walk to a car with four other men inside. It stated the man got into the passenger seat, at which point, he and the driver started "what appeared to be a hand to hand transaction."
Officials said the officer called for assistance and drugs were found in the pockets of the man seen walking out of the motel. They added investigators then went to the unit that was left open and after reportedly smelling marijuana, looked inside the room and stated they saw two plastic bags of marijuana, several "blunts" and a pistol.
Authorities added Fahd Ghanem was convicted of second offense possession of marijuana in 2010.
