Deputies say search of home yields cocaine, heroin and marijuana

DONALDSONVILLE, LA (WAFB) -

A repeat drug offender was arrested on multiple drug and other charges Wednesday night following a four-month investigation, according to authorities.

The Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office reported Romel Julien, 29, of Donaldsonville, was booked on the following charges:

Distribution of marijuana

Distribution of cocaine

Possession of heroin

Possession with intent to distribute marijuana

Possession with intent to distribute cocaine

Possession of drug paraphernalia

DCO-4-20 - inoculation and registration required for possession (3 counts)

No bond was set.

Chief Deputy Tony Bacala with APSO said narcotics detectives purchased marijuana and cocaine from Julien several different times over the past four months. He said they searched Julien's home just before midnight and reported finding cocaine, marijuana, heroin, drug paraphernalia and more than $1,000 in cash. He added the total street value of the drugs was about $5,700.

According to Bacala, three pit bulls that were not properly inoculated were also seized. The city of Donaldsonville requires dogs to be inoculated.

Officials reported Julien has been arrested more than 19 times since 2005. He has faced drug, weapon and battery charges in the past.
