Safer neighborhood initiative results in 8 arrests

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

Authorities said an initiative aimed at making a neighborhood safer for the people who live there resulted in eight arrests and the seizure of various drugs.

The East Baton Rouge Parish reported the eight arrests cleared 13 outstanding warrants ranging from traffic violations to drug possession.

They noted one of the suspects was Thomas Cahill, 21, of Baton Rouge. Deputies stated they seized 136.8 grams of marijuana, 8.5 grams of mushrooms, .7 grams of heroin and seven Prozac pills from his residence.

Cahill faces the following charges:

Possession with intent to distribute marijuana

Possession of Prozac

Possession of Schedule I CDS (2 counts)

Possession of drug paraphernalia

The list below indicates the outstanding bench warrants other suspects were arrested on:

Adrian Johnson:

Theft

Theft under $500

Driving under suspension

No seat belt

No license on self

Fugitive from Baton Rouge City Court

Kierra Wagner:

Theft under $500

No insurance

Failure to register vehicle

Switched license plate

Tyquan Francis:

Possession of marijuana

No seat belt

Fugitive from Baton Rouge City Court

Amanda King:

Fugitive from Baton Rouge City Court

Ihuoma Onu:

Driving under suspension

Fugitive from Baton Rouge City Court

Elizabeth Lozier:

No seat belt (3 counts)

No driver's license (2 counts)

Improper display for license plate

No insurance

Devin Gerard was issued a summons for possession of marijuana.

EBRSO added this is one of many initiatives it has conducted, resulting in hundreds of arrests and the clearing of more than 1,000 outstanding warrants.
