BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - The East Baton Rouge Metro Council agreed Wednesday to settle with Kim McCants in the amount of $35,000, annex three areas that made requests and a temporary contract for Uber to provide service at the airport.

She is the woman who was at the center of an investigation into former police chief Dewayne White. McCants filed a federal suit after private text messages were made public in that investigation. A judge ruled the messages should not have been released.

The council approved two annexation requests. The LSU Ben Hur Research Substation, LSU Fire Training Ground and L'Auberge Casino were moved into the city of Baton Rouge. The move was the latest in Baton Rouge's battle against the proposed city of St. George. The latest annexations are expected to take millions out of the proposed city's budget.

Council members also approved a temporary contract that has ride-sharing service Uber paying $100 per month to service customers at the Baton Rouge Metro Airport. There is already an ordinance in the books that regulates the monthly payments required by taxi cab and limo companies to work at the airport. Since Uber isn't classified in that category, the contract will cover the company until the council can update the ordinance.
