BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

The Capital Area Transit system has proposed three new routes.

One route will run down Nicholson Drive from Downtown to LSU and the Tigerland area.

CATS also wants to add an LSU express bus that would allow people to get to campus much quicker than if they used the LSU/Cortana route.

The final route CATS is considering is a Garden District trolley that would connect to Downtown and Perkins Road near the Acadian Village Shopping Center.

"If this can make the Garden District more attractive to some of the young people that might be moving in who don't have a car or don't want to use a car, but they want to get around. This might work where we can duplicate it in lots of neighborhoods." CATS CEO Bob Mirabito

CATS will present the new routes at Wednesday's Metro Council meeting, and if they are approved, they will go into effect on November 30.
